Washington DOL Approved Driver Education & License Testing

To take a the drivers knowledge test you must have one of these:

  • Washington ID
  • Pre-applied for a permit
  • Washington instruction permit

You will also need some Identification that includes a photo

  • Photo instruction permit
  • Expired license
  • Out of state license
  • Foreign license
  • Passport
  • School ID

Driver License | Knowledge Test

Department of Licensing’s Washington Drivers Knowledge test is 40 multiple choice questions on rules of the road and driver safety. 

  • Test offered in 7 languages ( English, Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese and Korean)
  • 40 multiple choice questions
  • 45 minute time limit
  • Passing score is 80% or higher (minimum 32/40 correct)
  • Instant Knowledge test results
  • Results are reported to the WA DOL electronically immediately following your test. Unless unforeseen technical issues occur with their database
