The courses

Start with where you are right now.

One program, one standard, six ranges. Pick the course that matches your experience today, from never having touched a clutch to refining your cornering line.

*Permit & endorsement prices shown are subsidized rates and require a Washington driver-license (WDL) number; unsubsidized add $90. Active-duty military & dependents qualify automatically. Prices current as of 2025.

How endorsement works

Four tests. One curriculum. The right order.

To get your motorcycle endorsement in Washington you need to pass four tests in total, two for the permit, two for the endorsement. You must hold a valid permit (or current valid permit scores) before you can take the endorsement skills test.

Permit knowledge = 50 questions. Endorsement knowledge = 25 questions. Both administered by WMST as a DOL-approved examiner.

New to all this? Our step-by-step endorsement guide maps the whole path from where you are today. Already passed your test? Here's how to add the endorsement to your license.

  • 01

    Permit knowledge test

50-question test on WA motorcycle law and safe-riding fundamentals.

  • 02

    Permit skills test

Basic motor controls and slow-speed maneuvers on the range.

  • 03

    Endorsement knowledge test

25 questions on advanced street riding scenarios.

  • 04

    Endorsement skills test

Cornering, braking, and avoidance under pressure. Pass and you ride home endorsed.
