Retaking Your Washington Knowledge Test
If you did not pass the knowledge test, you can retake it. WMST offers walk-in testing at our Everett Express office, and the $25 fee covers more than one attempt, so coming back is easy. Sessions run at 9:30 am, 1 pm, and 4 pm on weekdays, and we are a DOL-approved examiner.
Missing it once is normal.
Plenty of people do not pass the first time, and it is not a big deal. The knowledge test is 40 questions and you need 80 percent, so a handful of misses adds up fast. The fix is to review the rules you got wrong and come back.
Because WMST runs walk-in testing, you do not wait weeks for another appointment. The $25 knowledge-test fee covers multiple attempts, so you can retake it as a walk-in once you have studied up.
Knowledge and skills testing, by a DOL examiner.
WMST is a DOL-approved knowledge and skills examiner, so you take the official tests with us. Knowledge testing is walk-in; the skills test is the in-car drive.
