FAQ

What's the minimum age I have to be to enroll in a Driver Education Class?

You must be 15 years old by the first day of class.

When can I get my permit?

If you’re enrolled in a driver’s education class, you can get an instruction permit when you’re at least 15 years old and you apply for the permit 10 days or less before the class starts with an electronic waiver from your driving school. The waiver allows you to apply for your permit without taking the knowledge test first.
If you aren’t enrolled in a traffic safety course, you can get an instruction permit at 15½ or older, but first you’ll need to pass the knowledge test

Do I need a permit by the first class?

No, but you are required to have the permit no later than seven (7) days after the class begins.

How do I register?

Can I miss any classes?

We understand that occasionally a student must miss a class, however classes are required to be made up and No more than three (3) classes can be made up. We have a few options available to make-up a missed class. Please contact WMST’s office or speak to your instructor to learn how to schedule make-ups. No refund will be given to students dropped as a result of being absent for more than three (3) classroom sessions.

How long do I have to complete my Driver Education Course?

The State of Washington rules state that the completion of in-class and in-car curriculum must be completed in a minimum of thirty (30) days and must be completed in contiguous weeks.
