Knowledge Test

The knowledge test measures how well you understand the rules of the road and how to safely operate your motorcycle. You must pass the knowledge test before you can get:

  • An instruction permit to practice riding on public highways.
  • A motorcycle endorsement, if you did not complete a motorcycle training course.

Riding Skills Test

The riding skills test measures your ability to operate a motorcycle legally and safely.

  • If you take a motorcycle safety course, the riding skills test will be included in the course.
  • If you do not take a motorcycle safety course, you must take the riding skills test.

Rentals and Training Availability

If you feel you would like some riding time with an instructor prior to taking the skills test, WMST offers up to 3 hours pre-skills test practice for $40/hr. We also have bikes available for rental for $20/hr with a minimum of two hours training. Please contact our office for more information.

  • NOTE: Though we will not and cannot practice the test itself; this is an opportunity to develop the skills that pertain to the test.
  • NOTE: For pre-test practice sessions, all riders must wear a DOT approved helmet, proper eye protection, long sleeves, pants, gloves and protective boots that cover the ankle.

Cancellation Policies

  • Testing fees are not refunded if you cancel less than 7 days before your test date.
  • Prior to 7 days, you may reschedule your test at no additional cost.
  • If you do not show for your scheduled test, your fee will not be refunded; however, you may reschedule for an additional 50% of your testing fee.
